Little Saints and Little Angels
What are the Early Childhood Programs?
Sacred Heart School is taking admission applications for its Little Angels and Little Saints programs for the upcoming school year. The early childhood programs are a wonderful extension of the school program with the purpose of preparing children for school in a safe, fun, and structured Catholic Christian program. The children will be exposed to literature, music, letters, numbers, hands-on activities, and many other activities to prepare them for school.
What is Little Angels?
Little Angels is a program for three and four year olds held twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday). Children must be age three by September 1 which conforms to Minnesota rules for starting Kindergarten. Please note that North Dakota requires students to be five by August 1 to start Kindergarten.
What is Little Saints?
Little Saints is a program for four and five year olds held three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday). Children must be age four by September 1 which conforms to Minnesota rules for starting Kindergarten. Please note that North Dakota requires students to be five by August 1 to start Kindergarten.
Dates and time?
The morning sessions run from 8:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. The afternoon session runs from 12:15 to 3:15. Placement in the program is according to the admission policy/procedures. We have traditionally had two sections of each program for many years and expect this to continue. If you wish your child in the morning or afternoon session, you may request this by writing “requesting a.m.” or “requesting p.m.” on the top of the registation form. You are not guaranteed your request.

Sacred Heart’s Early Childhood Programs are under the overall supervision of Monsignor Mike Foltz, Pastor/Superintendent; David Andrys, Elementary School Principal; and the Sacred Heart School Advisory Council. The preschool is affiliated with Sacred Heart Daycare for state licensing purposes. The preschool is licensed by the State of Minnesota and meets state standards and regulations.
Who can attend?
For Little Angels (3 & 4 year olds), the child must be 3 years old or older before September 1. For Little Saints (4 and 5 year olds), the child must be 4 years old or older before September 1. All students must be potty trained. There is an admission policy that is followed. Preference is given to families who have older children at Sacred Heart School and families who intend to send their children to Sacred Heart School in the future.
Does my child have to be Catholic?
No. This program is open to all religious faiths, but it is a Catholic preschool. Prayer is included and bible stories are read and discussed. Catholic traditions are followed which may include the Sign of the Cross, the Hail Mary, etc.
Tuition and other costs?
A non-refundable $100 registration fee must be attached to this application. If you withdraw from the program for any reason, this fee will not be refunded. This will not be applied to the first payment in September. If your child is not selected for the program, this will be refunded.
Little Angels tuition for next school year will be $148.33/month (9 months) or $1,335/school year. Little Saints tuition will be $198.89/month (9 months) or $1,790.00/school year. Rates for 2014-15 have increased. An additional fee is the $20 school supply fee. This fee must be paid at the August Tuition/Fee Payment Day.
In addition, each preschool family is required to participate in the school fundraising programs with a family commitment of $200. School families (K-12) do not have an additional $200 commitment. Those who do not wish to participate may pay the extra $200 as tuition.
Admissions applications will be denied if families have overdue tuition or unfulfilled fundraising commitments from previous school years. Families may pay these fees to get in good standing. Please see Shelley Johnson (parish bookkeeper), Michelle Kraft (Development) or David Andrys. Sacred Heart School Scholarships or Tuition assistance/forgiveness will not be granted for this program. No adjustment will be made to the tuition for absences, weather, vacations, or non-school days during the year.
Both programs will follow the same school calendar as the rest of the elementary school program. Parent/Teacher Conferences are held once a year.
The ratio is 2/14 for Little Angels and 2/20 for Little Saints.
Each child must have the required minimum number of immunizations for their age and proof of birth such as a birth certificate or baptismal certificate.
A Minnesota state health summary form must be completed by a health professional.
A registration form must be completed and the non-refundable $100 registration/processing fee must be paid. Without the registration fee, your application will not be accepted.
All requirements must be completed and in the office before your child may start preschool.
There is no busing available. Parents do all transportation.
The early childhood program is located at 117 Fourth Street NW, East Grand Forks, MN.
Admission is based on the admission policy. The admission application closing date for selection criteria will be April 1, 2014.
