This time of year there are lots of goodies being brought for secret Santa’s, Advent buddies and special friends. Please remember that we have many peanut allergy students and faculty in our building. Be aware of what you are sending with your child for their safety.


Thank you to all of the students in grades 4-12 that participated in the Student Council sweatpants days for the last two weeks! You were able to raise $500 for Polk County Social Services to purchase Christmas gifts for teens in Foster Care in our area.


Congratulations to Abby Anderson, Jade Zimprich, Yuki Guan and Katelyn Werner on having their artwork selected to be in the University of North Dakota Juried High School Art Competition and Exhibit. The pieces will be on display through January 10th in the Colonel Eugene E. Myers Art Gallery at the Hughes Fine Art Center.


The Knights of Columbus will be holding their annual Free Throw Contest on Sunday, January 28th in the Sacred Heart Gymnasium. Registration opens at noon. All children in the parish ages 9-14 are invited to attend.






The Sacred Heart Women's Ministry Social has been rescheduled for Monday, January 22nd from 6-9:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Social Hall.


We are approaching mid-year so we want give you some reminders of the school day rules: coats are not to be worn in the classroom, leggings are allowed only if a dress meets the 5” above the knee requirement, boys must be clean shaven everyday, sweatpants are only allowed on Student Council sponsored days, boys are to wear a collared shirt or sweater for the entire day on Mass days, and cell phones and backpacks are to remain in lockers during the school day.


Sacred Heart School is looking to fill a position for:


  • Part Time Gym and Vacuuming Position: Cleaning gym and locker rooms. This would be around 2-3 hours and would include: sweeping bleachers, vacuuming runners, collecting garbage cans around the gym, sweeping locker rooms, collecting garbage in locker rooms, mopping floors in the locker rooms, and refilling toiletries. Schedule would be provided.
  • Vacuuming Position: This would be around 6-8 hours a week and would include: vacuum all classrooms, library, and auditorium once a week. This could be done on a flexible schedule all at once on the weekend or split thru the week.

Sacred Heart 7-10th & Environmental Science students will be presenting their 2017 Science fair projects to parents and the public! Presentation of projects will occur after the conclusion of judging.

The Sacred Heart Athletic Club is in need of filling an open position on our board. Please strongly consider this as we are needing an individual who is willing to help us with the direction we need to move in our financial endeavors to support the athletes of Sacred Heart. The KnightRider swim team had their first meet of the season on Saturday at Fargo Davies. The team placed 5th and Levi Dallum had two personal bests and was close to personal records in his other two events as well! Coach Newman said, “Levi could really come on strong for us down the road with a start like today.”


The boys basketball team came back from a second-half 9 point deficit to beat the Storm 72-67 Tuesday night! Oscar Ortiz and Noah Chine had a great game, Jordan Tomkinson scored 19 points, Jack Gerber 15 points, Oscar Ortiz 14 points and Brenden Bethke 13. We look forward to more basketball at the Merth this season! HIGHLIGHT VIDEO


Don't miss tonight's match up here at home! The boys will take on the Kittson County Central Bearcats! 7th grade at 4:30, 8th at 5:30, JV at 6:00, and the Varsity starts at 7:30 p.m. Let's PACK THE MERTH EAGLE FANS!


The girls basketball team team lost in overtime last night to BGMR, 55-52. The Eagles fought hard. Macyn Bloom and Bella Knudson played well off the bench. Leading the team in scoring was Ivy Edwards with 17 points, Sydney Lloyd had 12 points, Maddi Mitzel added 11 points. Jessica Remer played tough defense and Katelyn Rudolph had 5 blocked shots.  The Eagles play Red Lake for third place at 6:15 today. The bus will depart at 4:00.


The girls will take on the East Grand Forks Greenwave on Tuesday at the Senior High! JV at 6:00 p.m. and Varsity at 7:30 p.m.
