Parent Notes & Reminders

It has been the policy of Sacred Heart School to have Halloween celebrations in the individual classrooms. These celebrations include costumes, treats, stories, games, and parades. While it is recognized that Halloween is not a Christian holiday, it is very much a children’s day in the United States. While we will continue to celebrate the day at the discretion of the individual teachers, some limitations are to be observed:
• Costumes must be in good taste, modest, and worn with the knowledge that this is a Catholic school.
• Costumes may not be bloody or gory.
• Make-up must be minimal.
• The time consumed with the celebration must be reasonable.

Sacred Heart students in K-6 will again hold a parade of costumes! The parade will start on October 31st at 1:00 p.m. in the high school halls.

Fall Book Fair at SHS   Additional Notes:

Sacred Heart School will be having its Fall Book Fair from Nov. 13-16 AND Nov. 20-21. That’s right, the book fair will be open for 2 ADDITIONAL DAYS! If you are going to see relatives over the Thanksgiving holidays, stop in and shop for gifts you can bring along to store for Christmas or to keep your children occupied while traveling “over the hills and through the woods” to Grandma’s house or anywhere else you’re going!

If you can’t stop by in person, shop online! From Nov. 5 through Nov. 18, you can shop ONLINE HERE and your orders will come to the school for FREE SHIPPING! Ms. Dempsey is pretty good at keeping secrets, so if you wish to buy something for Christmas or a birthday without little eyes around, this is the answer for you!

We hope you can come and shop! 25% of the proceeds come back to Sacred Heart so Ms. Dempsey can purchase books for the students. Yay students!

Also, we are doing a “All for Books” collection for Red Lake Mission School. Donate $1 or any change you have and all monies collected will be used to by new books for the students at the school from the book fair! Plus Scholastic will match our donation to give books to needy children through such groups as Kids in Need Foundation, Reader to Reader Inc., and the National Center for Families Learning.

You are invited to a UND Fighting Hawk Halloween Bash on Tuesday, October 31st from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the UND High Performance Center. All ages up to 5th grade are welcome to this free entry event. They ask you to bring a donation of a gently used coat, hat, gloves, hoodie, or blanket for a chance to win a signed UND Men's Hockey jersey.
