Lumen Christi Award
Background of the Sacred Heart Lumen Christi Award:
We are all called to be “light bearers” of Christ. It is our Christian duty to live our faith and offer hope in the Glory to come. To be a “light bearer” is often times an arduous task. Continually rising to the challenge requires much faith and hard work. That is also true for Sacred Heart School. Maintaining the operation of Sacred Heart School is accomplished through the combined efforts of many, many dedicated people, past and present. But, admittedly, some of those people carry more than their fair share of the burden. Efforts such as those should be recognized and celebrated by all of us who value Catholic education, especially a Sacred Heart education.
Sacred Heart School has a long and rich tradition of people and generations who have given of themselves to keep the “light” of Catholic education alive. Without them, that light could have too easily been extinguished. Therefore, the Sacred Heart Lumen Christi Award shall be the highest distinctive honor bestowed by Sacred Heart School upon those who have made outstanding and distinguished efforts in one’s profession or to Sacred Heart School, and whose efforts reflect honorably on the mission and ministry of Catholic education.
Celebration of the Sacred Heart Lumen Christi Award:
The Sacred Heart Lumen Christi Award shall be awarded annually to those individuals who, in exemplary fashion, demonstrated the fundamental and essential qualities of “Light Bearers” of Christ and Catholic education. It shall forever reflect the efforts and purposeful intentions they have made to Sacred Heart School, knowing that what they do, they do for Christ himself.
An annual banquet will be held in late October of each year, and recipients and their families and friends, as well as all supporters and believers of Sacred Heart School, will be invited to attend.
Categories of the Sacred Heart Lumen Christi Award:
There are three categories for the awards: Faculty/Staff, Alumni, and Friends.
